Understanding the cause of damage

A soffit is the underside of an architectural structure such as an arch, a balcony, or overhanging eaves. Before repairing the soffit on Lauren's house, our team carefully inspected the roof and surrounding area to make sure there was no further damage. This also helped us understand why the soffit had fallen off in the first place. We traced the source of the issue back to a missing drip edge, a necessity on a low-pitch roof to guide the water into the gutter. Without it, the water can freely flow back to the fascia and soffit. In Lauren's case, this caused damage and rot, so we quickly made a plan to repair that damage before installing the new soffit.

Manufacturing the right size soffit

Another challenge that was unique to Lauren's house was the size of the dentil molding on the soffit. The new piece would need to perfectly match the rest of the house. After researching the options, we found a reliable manufacturer in Texas who could make the soffit to perfectly match the molding on the rest of the house. We put in the order and returned to Lauren's home a few days later to finish the installation.

Successfully Installing a soffit

Step one to replacing the broken soffit was to remove any broken or rotting pieces surrounding the area. We then inspected the state of what remained. We replaced all the pieces we had removed with new parts. Our team ensured that everything was correctly installed so that the soffit wouldn't come off again. In addition, we sealed the area, preventing water damage from returning to this section of the house.

Lauren was happy with the results and we are excited to share the before and after images for you to see the transformation yourself.
