Moving into an old home can come with some surprises. When Amanda and Carson moved into their 100-year-old home, they quickly got to work on some necessary updates. The back door really needed to be replaced due to some wood rot at the bottom of the door frame, but finding a suitable replacement for it was a challenge because of its unique size. Read on to see how we solved this problem.

Inspecting for Wood Rot
Your Trusty Toolbox removed the old door. This gave us the space to examine the wood rot and determine how far the rot had gotten. Thankfully, we could quickly verify that the rot had not impacted the structural integrity of the home.
Installing the New Back Door
Once the foundation was deemed safe, we replaced the old door with a new pre-hung door. The old brick molding was larger than the new door, but our team had some tricks up our sleeve to make it work. We custom fitted trim to seal up the gaps and finish installing the door.
The new door complements the other doors that the homeowners installed, and the end result looks great.
